Find your way through the challenges with swimming

This Mental Health Awareness week find out about Angela’s challenge.
“Through the years I have been so grateful to have been given the opportunity to be a swimmer. As a child, I don’t think I realised just how valuable swimming would be to me.

The challenges you face when learning to swim, and then in my case, going into years of competitions really helped to strengthen me. Learning how to cope with tackling fresh challenges and experiencing one defeat after another, and missing out on the things you really want, pushes you to work even harder and eventually win. It takes a lot but the buzz you get from improving feels so good.

These are the same drivers I use to teach children to swim at my own swim school. To see them go on to become strong confident swimmers and individuals that can cope with life’s challenges is so rewarding. As Mental Health Awareness week draws to a close for this year my challenge to everyone is start swimming today – it really is never too late and it teaches you so much about yourself.”
